CURATE40 & Eclectcollect is offering an opportunity for designers, illustrators, fashion designers, artists and creatives of all disciplines to both showcase and sell their work at our very special Minimart during the London Design Festival.

Each season Curate40 identifies a key emerging design trend that will go on to influence the high street in the coming seasons. For LDF 2010, we are focusing on the ever growing trend of illustration and print.  The Minimart will be a mixed curation of 2D and 3D work. We are always open to suggestions; so don’t be afraid to submit your work.

Located in the heart of East London’s buzzing design area, this is an event not to be missed. If you have products that are ready for sale at the MINIMART then why not apply for a place. Most importantly, we recognise the importance of money to all emerging and established designers and creatives.

CURATE40 is an organisation established to support emerging and talented creative artists/designers. Our aim is to help them expand their business through our network and events held throughout the year.

We know that starting out can be tough, hence we aim to provide new, and exciting affordable opportunities that could help expand their horizons.

Submission Details:

1. Send in your application along with images together no more than 10MB

2. To be able to qualify for the Mini Mart, your produces must be fully functional finished product and is available for sale in the venue.

3. There will be an £80 non-refundable fee (to cover essential costs) payable by the 28th August

4. All agreed products must be delivered by Friday 11th September.

5. 30% sales commission will be deducted from your final sale . (Please note that bank charges and VAT may apply)

Gabriele Herzog is a freelance illustrator who lives and works in London. Gabriele grew up in Basel, Switzerland where she studied at the Schule fuer Gestaltung Basel for her BA. Moving to London to live and to work – she has recently graduated from Camberwell College of Arts London with an MA in Illustration.

Gabriele’s illustrations are informed by an interest in written language – how to interpret, translate and visualize words and their narrative. Her images convey an intuitive simplicity. The narrative context occurs through juxtaposing and sequence.

Dark Dog Studio is run by designer/maker Hannah Galvin-Horne from a studio in Co Cork, where she designs and hand screen-prints a range of interior fabrics and accessories.

Hannah graduated from University of Leeds in 2005 after studying Painting and Printmaking. Her love of bold patterns and colours mixed with an element of contemporary visual culture, have been applied to her products creating a fun but stylish range.

MENGSEL was established in London in October 2009 by Luzelle van der Westhuizen. Luzelle studied Jewellery Design and Manufacture at Cape Town’s University of Technology, graduating with honours. After working for other designers in the industry Luzelle felt like it was time to go on her own creative adventure, and so MENGSEL Design was born.

MENGSEL is the Afrikaans and Dutch word for mixture or blend and the word truly encapsulate what the brand is all about. Featuring bold, repetitive shapes in vivid colours, with a beautiful minimal aesthetic, the designs are just waiting to burst into your home and brighten your day.

Working from her studio in Richmond, South West London, Luzelle prints simple, playful, bold and colourful designs by hand using traditional screen printing methods. Influences include African and Scandinavian design, geometric and hand-drawn patterns. The goal is to reach a wider audience at Pulse 2010 and to transform MENGSEL into a recognised design brand with a wide range of distinctive products.
